Concepts for webpages 

I have carried out research into local electrical companies websites as well as commercial electrical companies. This is evident in my previous blog posts. Below are the concepts I created to show to my clients. I wanted to use colour in the more successful concepts so my clients have an idea what it could look like when designed in illustrator. 




Above is the development of concepts for the clients web pages. My client is still considering getting the website coded and has asked me to design the rest of the pages in the future. My client wanted these pages to be easy to navigate and not too overwhelmed by images. One of the main elements they did want on the home page was the use of icons to go next to each discipline the clients work in. These icons can be shown below.

Home Page 

As the user scrolls down the homepage the links will follow you down the page. When the user scrolls down to the 'review' section, each review will face into the next review, giving the user enough time to read each one. 


Contact Page 

This is the secondary page my clients wanted the most because they want people to be getting in contact with them for their services. As with the home page, the links will follow the user down the page as they scroll. There will be a slight animation of the photo behind the contact information box. The photo will will move as the user scrolls down the page. There will also be links to social media and an email address at the bottom of the page. 




My clients are really fond of these web page designs I created for them. A lot of inspiration for these web page designs came from the electrical company called Arthur McKay. I felt like it was a lot harder to stick to the brand guidelines with the web page designs as I wanted to add more colour but I knew I had to stick to the formal and professional look my clients wanted.

Research - Other Local Companies

Pickersleigh Chip Shop, Malvern I thought this would be a good example of how a re-brand can benefit a company. Before this chip shop was re-branded it has very dull signage and graphic inside the building which at first glance looked very uninviting and I think it made the shop blend in with other competitors in the area. Nothing stood out with this chip shop and it was starting to look too outdated for 2018/2019. The picture below is of the shops re-brand. It looks a lot more inviting and the signage, interior and exterior has been updated. On my way through Malvern I decided I would have a chat with the owner of the chip shop to have a discussion on if and how rebranding has changed their business. Research - Local Competitors

Darren Spencer Electrical  This is a local contractor based in Worcester. I found them through a simple search on Google. They seem to have good reviews on google which drew my attention to them and I wondered how they are so popular. The company logo seems to be very simple but legible and it uses orange and yellow which is a very unusual colour for an electrical company. These are not colours you see in electrical installation which has made me believe these colours are used in the brand to make it stand out from other competitors in the area. I do believe this could work against the company as a lot of people would probably overlook the company van if they saw it. Research - The History of Graphic Design

The History of Graphic Design GRAPHIC DESIGN Beginnings: 15,000 – 3,600 BC Graphic design can be traced all the way back to 15,000 BC, when the first known visual communications came about. These are pictographs and symbols which can be found in the Lascaux caves in southern France. The Blau Monument is the first known artefact to use both words and pictures on it.
