Major Project Research

Client Feedback (Email) This is the feedback I have received in regards to the final designs. Despite the current global situation I am really pleased I have been able to produce good design outcomes for my client. It is a great pleasure to know I have made them think of elements they may not have thought of before and I happy to have played a part in (hopefully) the success of their company through creating a brand identity for them.  Covid-19 has made me learn new ways of communicating to clients through zoom. I have also gained confidence talking over the phone to a client about my designs and not being afraid to ask questions. I believe this will benefit me greatly in my career. I have learnt a great deal through completing this project and my desire to pursue a career in branding and advertisement has grown. I feel like this project has given me confidence to seek out clients in the future and to also communicate with confidence. 

User Feedback  Through the process of user testing, it gives the opportunity to analyse the target audiences thoughts about the designs.  I needed to find out if local people like the branding I produced for BE Electrical and if there were any recommended improvements I could make.  I managed to get 16 people to take the survey. The majority of these people were part of a local noticeboard group on Facebook. It was important to make sure that the people taking the survey were from the local area to get an accurate response from them about the designs. I did not want to create lots of questions so I tried to keep it simple so people did not lose interest when taking the survey.  Overall, 100% of people liked the branding for BE Electrical and they had no suggestions for improvement of the designs shown.  Although one person did skip the last question, 100% of people said they would consider using the services provided by BE ...

Concepts I spoke to my client about the design for the letterhead over the phone. They said they admired the business card design and wanted to keep it simple sticking to the 'dot' theme. Here are some concepts below. The design circled was a result of slightly developing elements from the other concepts. I was initially going to choose the yellow coloured concept but I felt like it did not convey the feeling of professionalism as well as the 'grey' concept (circled). I knew I could slightly edit this design in illustrator if it was required. I felt like there was too much going on with some of the other designs and the 'line' theme with some of them did not match the branding I have already designed.  Final Design I was luck to be able to obtain a quote template from my client which I have amended very slightly so it suits the letterhead design. I wanted this design to be professional looking and not overpowered by yellow. I feel like there...

Flyer Design Research  Electrician Flyers  Before I start designing concepts, I want to include some visual research into existing electrician flyers. Although I have touched upon flyer design in previous research it is important to look at a few more designs. Good or bad, they will help aid me in creating my concepts for the client to look at. I will pay particular attention to the layout of the designs. I will look at a few other examples of flyers to assist in the creation of designs.  Other Flyers  Concepts  I emailed my clients these concepts and they really liked the design on the middle row, far left. Concepts for webpages  I have carried out research into local electrical companies websites as well as commercial electrical companies. This is evident in my previous blog posts. Below are the concepts I created to show to my clients. I wanted to use colour in the more successful concepts so my clients have an idea what it could look like when designed in illustrator.  Above is the development of concepts for the clients web pages. My client is still considering getting the website coded and has asked me to design the rest of the pages in the future. My client wanted these pages to be easy to navigate and not too overwhelmed by images. One of the main elements they did want on the home page was the use of icons to go next to each discipline the clients work in. Business Card Design  The design that my clients most want is that of the business card. It is important I create an effective layout for this design and choose colours wisely. I believe with business cards, simplicity is key for achieving effective design to attract the target audience.  Concepts I spoke to my client about these concepts via email. He really admired concept 3 and elements from concept 9. I spoke to the client about adding icons next to the contact information to which he agreed.
