Flyer Design Research 

Electrician Flyers 


Before I start designing concepts, I want to include some visual research into existing
electrician flyers. Although I have touched upon flyer design in previous research it is important to look at a few more designs. Good or bad, they will help aid me in creating my concepts for the client to look at. I will pay particular attention to the layout of the designs. I will look at a few other examples of flyers to assist in the creation of designs.

Concepts 


I emailed my clients these concepts and they really liked the design on the middle row, far left. They felt that the yellow on some of the designs could be too over powering. They want to keep the flyer sleek and professional looking like the rest of the designs created so far. 

Final Design

I am really pleased with the outcome of this flyer design. I did not want the design to stray too far away from that of the business card design. The flyer design is professional looking and not overwhelmed with too much text.

Research - Other Local Companies

Pickersleigh Chip Shop, Malvern I thought this would be a good example of how a re-brand can benefit a company. Before this chip shop was re-branded it has very dull signage and graphic inside the building which at first glance looked very uninviting and I think it made the shop blend in with other competitors in the area. Nothing stood out with this chip shop and it was starting to look too outdated for 2018/2019. The picture below is of the shops re-brand. It looks a lot more inviting and the signage, interior and exterior has been updated. On my way through Malvern I decided I would have a chat with the owner of the chip shop to have a discussion on if and how rebranding has changed their business. Research - Local Competitors

Darren Spencer Electrical  This is a local contractor based in Worcester. I found them through a simple search on Google. They seem to have good reviews on google which drew my attention to them and I wondered how they are so popular. The company logo seems to be very simple but legible and it uses orange and yellow which is a very unusual colour for an electrical company. These are not colours you see in electrical installation which has made me believe these colours are used in the brand to make it stand out from other competitors in the area. I do believe this could work against the company as a lot of people would probably overlook the company van if they saw it. The History of Graphic Design GRAPHIC DESIGN Beginnings: 15,000 – 3,600 BC Graphic design can be traced all the way back to 15,000 BC, when the first known visual communications came about.
